Work progresses on extra care scheme in Wellingborough

9 March, 2026

The build of a new Wellingborough extra care scheme is gathering pace following appointment of new contractor.

Construction work resumed last year on Greatwell Homes’ flagship scheme, which will be known as Dappletree Court, by contractor Deeley Construction, with the build now onto its fourth floor.

Overlooking one of Wellingborough’s biggest green spaces, Dappletree Court will offer 57 modern homes with a mixture of one and two bedrooms. It will be Greatwell Homes’ first scheme under their new Independent Living Plus offer which will provide customers with a tailored and supported environment whilst encouraging independent living.

Each flat will include a kitchen and living area, as well as a bathroom with a level access shower and 24/7 response systems for peace of mind. The scheme will offer a glass fronted communal lounge with access to the communal garden and views of the park, as well as other facilities such as a hair salon and treatment room.

The development was put on hold in 2024 after the previous contractor entered administration. Deeley Construction were appointed in 2025 with work resuming in August the same year.

Julie Robinson, executive director at Greatwell Homes, said: “This development represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing high-quality, independent living options for older residents. With beautiful views and thoughtfully designed homes, Dappletree Court will offer comfort, accessibility, and a sense of community for those aged 55 and over.

“We’re proud to be launching our Independent Living Plus service here, which will provide tailored support to help residents live well and independently for years to come.”

Eleanor Deeley, joint managing director at Deeley Group, said: “Work is progressing well on site at Dappletree Court, which will provide much-needed independent living homes for people aged over 55 in Wellingborough.

“We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Greatwell Homes on this flagship scheme. Our team brings significant experience in delivering high-quality independent living developments that provide lasting value for communities.”

Situated on Henshaw Road in Wellingborough, Dappletree Court will replace previous scheme, Hearnden Court, which was demolished in 2023.

The development is supported by a £4.8 million grant from Homes England.
