Leading Midlands construction and property development firm Deeley Group has strengthened its board with the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director.

Richard Williams has joined Deeley Group and will support the growth of the Coventry based firm in the later living and healthcare sectors.

He brings more than 20 years’ experience in senior leadership and board level roles, and will use his expertise, industry knowledge and network to build on the strong foundations the firm already has in the sector.

Richard is a board member of Riverside, one of the UK’s largest housing associations and Community Health Partnerships, which manages more than 300 primary care buildings across England on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care.

His previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of Brigid Investments, where he led the development of a retirement rental platform comprising more than 750 apartments, Managing Director of retirement housing developer McCarthy Stone and several director level positions in the healthcare sector.

Richard held senior operational roles at Aldi during the retailer’s early expansion across the UK, including nine years as Property Director.

Richard joins Deeley Group as the family-owned business continues to establish itself as the developer of choice for care and later living in the Midlands.

The business has delivered 565 extra care apartments and 283 care home beds in the last two years.

Richard said: “This is clearly a very successful business with a strong culture and that was something that really attracted me to the role.

“Much of my career has been spent in the sectors at the heart of Deeley’s ambitions, so there is a natural fit between my experience and the direction of the business.

“I hope I can bring added value by offering an independent perspective, sharing my experience and providing advice that supports the business as it continues to grow.

“There is a huge opportunity for Deeley Group to become one of the most successful construction and development companies supporting retirement living, senior living and healthcare.”

Eleanor Deeley, Joint Managing Director of Deeley Group, said: “We have seen strong growth over the last three years, and Richard will help to further strengthen our presence in the care and later living sector.

“He brings a wealth of experience and insight to our business, together with an independent perspective that will support the board as we make key decisions about the next stage in our development.”
