A leading figure in construction in the Midlands has been selected to represent the industry in the region after taking on a new role.
Martin Gallagher, managing director of Coventry-based Deeley Construction – part of Deeley Group – became the new Midlands regional chair of the National Federation of Builders (NFB).
Martin joined Deeley Group straight out of school and has been with the company for 30 years. During that time, he has risen through the ranks and became managing director of Deeley Construction in 2009.
The NFB is one of the UK’s longest standing trade bodies and represents builders, contractors and house builders across England and Wales, with members ranging from the sole trader to large, multi-million pound construction companies.
It provides expert advice, training, representation and other business services for members to ensuring they comply with industry standards and support their growth.
Martin said: “It is a great pleasure and honour to be taking on this new role and I look forward to representing the construction industry in the Midlands. During my time in post, I will work hard towards addressing the skills shortage and promoting careers in the construction industry across the Midlands.
“Deeley is a proud member of the NFB and believe that the industry should work in partnership together to drive improvements and speak as one voice.
“Deeley Construction works right across the board when it comes to the contracts we deliver for clients so I do see many different aspects or the industry, which means I have a broad knowledge of the whole sector.”
Richard Beresford, chief executive of the National Federation of Builders, said: “Martin brings a wealth of experience and expertise which he has gained over the course of his career and we wish Martin all the best as he represents us in the Midlands as our new regional chair.”
