Targeting Net Zero Carbon
At the start of our journey we appointed the services of Carbon Footprint Limited to set our target for achieving Net Zero Carbon. By engaging an industry expert we were able to produce a Carbon Footprint Standard (TM) for our baseline reporting period of May 2020 – April 2021.
We saw 8.80 tonnes of CO2 produced per £1 million spend (Scope 1 & Scope 2 and elements of Scope 3 measured).
At the end of the process we offset the CO2 produced for the baseline year of reporting by supporting a wind farm project in Maharashtra, India making Deeley Group Carbon Neutral for May 2020 – April 2021.
For the current reporting period May 2023 – April 2024 we saw 12.08 tonnes of CO2 Produced per £1 million spent, however there has been an upturn in our work following the pandemic, and we’ve seen an increase in larger projects, which inherently bring larger site welfare set ups and additional plant on site.
Net Zero Target Year: 2036
Our work to reduce our carbon footprint includes:
- Our Design and our Estimating teams have engaged industry specialists to assist with the design of both affordable living and market sale homes to Part L and Future Homes Standards
- We monitor the energy performance of our head office and we undertook the installation of L.E.D lighting in our Head Office.
- We continue to embrace remote working which we believe this will have a positive impact by reducing our carbon footprint via mileage.
- To reduce our motor fuel consumption we have installed additional Electric Vehicle Charging Points at our head office and chosen to only provide full-electric company vehicles to encourage staff to consider greener transport solutions.
- We are monitoring the idling time of our telehandlers operating on sites and encourage
- Waste per 100m3 is now measured as opposed to waste recycled figures meaning we are reducing waste at the source

Our Approach to Sustainability
Deeley Group’s commitment to the environment starts from our Head Office. Whilst now 14 years old, we had the foresight to construct our head office in Coventry using a number of sustainable features:
- EV Charging Points
- Ground source heat pumps
- Rain water harvesting
- PV panels
- Antisun glazing unitsEnergy efficient lighting controls
- Daylight lighting control
- High efficiency luminaire control gear
Putting our environmental commitment into practice
Delivering Sustainable Communities
Our approach to sustainability is consistent. Regularly in the Social Housing, Education and Commercial sectors we deliver schemes of high energy performance. We choose to apply our high standards of best practice to each scheme we work on, regardless of BREEAM or Building Regulations requirements.
Scheme by scheme, we review the possibilities of installing renewable energy technology or designing the structure to ensure it is highly energy efficient. Working with long standing partnering energy consultants we are designing homes that will meet the new Part L and Future Homes standards.
Data Measurement
Our team check annually that our conversion factors are in line UK Government, and in line with SECR reporting are audited with our reports & accounts. We regularly check in with industry partners for tips to further reduce carbon and check our Net Zero Target Year of 2036 is still achievable.
We are signed up to the KPI Hub, a National Federation of Builders initiative from which we measure our CO2 emissions for BREEAM projects and support our local subcontractor procurement target of 70% within 30 miles of any project.
