A Coventry firm has been recognised as one of the Midlands’ leading family businesses at a regional award ceremony.
Deeley Group has been named winner in the Property & Construction Excellence category at the Midlands Family Business Awards.
The ceremony, which was held at Athena in Leicester, saw ten awards presented on the evening to family-run businesses from across the region.
Deeley Group, which was established in 1936, was also shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category on the evening.
The third-generation family business is now in its 88th year, after being founded by George W. Deeley in 1936. It is now headed up by his son, Peter Deeley, and granddaughter, Eleanor Deeley.
It has seen significant growth over the last two years, driven by expanding its footprint in the healthcare and retirement living sectors, with the developer bringing forward schemes valued at more than £123 million.
The Deeley family values remain at the heart of the business’s operations; integrity, partnership, community, respect and agility.
This is reflected in its commitment to training and development of staff, with 26 per cent of the firm’s current staff having come through a trainee, apprenticeship or graduate programme.
The Midlands Family Business Awards is a not-for-profit initiative and all proceeds from the awards are donated to The Brain Tumour Charity, the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research in to brain tumours globally.
