Deeley Construction was contracted by Lidl (Group) to help expand its retail offering across the UK.
This BREEAM Excellent unit showcased Lidl’s commitment to providing highly energy efficient retail units across its property portfolio.
The scheme was published via Lidl’s Contractor Framework which involved stringent Health & Safety and CSR checks to gain access.
Won through a competitive tender, this new 23,745 sq. ft. facility offers residents of Wallingford an alternative to retail shopping in the area.
The site is located in a busy industrial area and involved close liaison with the local occupiers. Other significant aspects in the area required four no. Tree Protection Zones to be retained across the site.
The site required a significant remediation exercise following the demolition of a Water Engineering Works which had relocated. Via a screening process we were able to segregate 6F2 and Type 1 Hardcore to be reused in the groundworks.
The unit, a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ facility, features Porotherm Clay Blocks with high insulation properties and an Air Handling Unit which is managed by its own Building Management System and recycles the buildings warm air.
