This three-storey bed care home is on the site of a council owned car park. it is designed to provide care for adults with complex needs, including those living with brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.
The project was delivered using a traditional brick and block build method. The floors were constructed using a beam and block system, ensuring structural integrity and providing excellent thermal and acoustic performance.
Key elements of the build included:
Roof Structure: Installed using prefabricated roof trusses and finished with high-quality roof tiles to ensure weather resistance and longevity.
Sustainable Energy Solutions: The building was fitted with solar panels and air source heat pumps to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Stormwater Management: A comprehensive stormwater management system was installed to manage surface water and prevent flooding.
Electric Vehicle Charging: Three electric vehicle charging points were installed to encourage the use of electric vehicles among staff and visitors.
Ecological Enhancements: Two bat boxes and two swift boxes were incorporated into the design to enhance biodiversity and support local wildlife.
Exemplar’s primary goal was to create a high-quality care facility that would provide complex care for older individuals while incorporating sustainable construction methods and meeting local authority requirements.
The client aimed to ensure that the care home was built to a high standard, with a focus on long-term durability and low operational costs.
