Another project undertaken in partnership by Deeley Group and Exemplar Health Care which provides care for adults with complex needs.
This scheme addressed the growing needs for this type of care in Coventry.
The £6.5 million care home, designed by Watson Batty Architects, was built by Deeley Construction and created over 100 jobs.
The facility featured a single storey entrance with canopy and a palette of materials which reflected the architecture style of the former church.
It included facilities on each floor to support nursing care, as well as dining rooms, quiet rooms and lounge areas, alongside a residential therapy room and an entrance hub with meeting areas for visiting family members.
As part of the plans, a new sensory garden was created, offering a communal space for residents to enjoy.
The development included a 31-space car park, including three electric vehicle charging points, with the addition of six new parking spaces for use by the parish hall, which remained open throughout the building works.
The 38-bed care home was built on the site of the derelict St Nicholas Church; unused and left in a state of disrepair for more than 10 years, closed due health and safety reasons.
Deeley Partnerships worked closely with the Diocese of Coventry, Exemplar Health Care and the Local Authority to design a new facility that reflected the previous history, whilst bringing the land back into use.
Notable features were collected and retained for re-use, including its bells, cross and a plaque which features a carving of St Nicholas in Portland stone. The cross was also retained on site and erected into a plinth, while the bells were reused by the diocese.
