Finham Park 2 expansion, Coventry

Deeley Construction returned to Finham Park 2 creating new classrooms via MMC solution and delivering a refurbished office space.

Deeley Construction was appointed by Coventry City Council to complete the construction of their new office building, additional outdoor sport facilities and transform existing offices into classrooms at the Coventry school.

Main Management Block: Project Specifics

The main new block on this project comprised a SIPS Timber Frame system, supplied by fellow Coventry-firm Innovare. This solution provided efficiencies via quicker installation on site and meets sustainability objectives with its use of timber.

Brownfield Site

The new management block was constructed on the footprint of a former Job Centre which was demolished prior to contract start. As with some brownfield developments there were challenges including a concrete slab that was not shown on records, however we worked with our subcontractors to minimise the impact on the short programme.

Internal Configuration

The building accommodates 14 offices and meeting rooms of varying sizes, specifically designed to serve the requirements of teaching and support staff.

Sustainability Features

The development incorporated several environmental initiatives:

  • Solar energy: 60 solar PV panels installed for renewable energy generation
  • Electric vehicle infrastructure: 6 EV charging bays provided on-site.
