Deeley has once again supported the University of Warwick in providing world-class engineering facilities.
Deeley Construction was engaged on this project at a very early stage and through a value engineering process we ensured that the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) was provided with a bespoke facility which met their scope and budget. By working with the University and their project team we provided a solution which was suitable for all parties.
The new two-storey building is an expansion of the campus’ existing facilities and is set to be spread over 16,800 sq. ft. The additional automotive research facilities will benefit students and businesses alike who use the WMG’s facilities to for research & development purposes.
Traffic management was the main challenge onsite as we were required to deliver a major new build project adjacent to a busy main road and in a live campus environment.
In addition, the site boundaries were very tight and we had to maintain access to a neighbouring building which was achieved through the installation of a temporary road.
The development allows for future expansion internally such as mezzanine floors which can be introduced on the first floor, and is designed to hold bespoke engineering research equipment.
There are extensive internal services requirements for the engineering equipment and research activities. These include natural ventilation systems, district heating and cooling, compressed air, laboratory gases, vacuum extract, chilled water, etc.
